YOUNG Africans head coach Miloud Hamdi has declared his ambition to lead the team to a clean sweep of the remaining domestic trophies, aiming to cap off the season with a total of four titles.
Speaking shortly after guiding Young Africans to the final of the Federation Cup, Hamdi (pictured) emphasized the importance of maintaining focus in the final stretch of the campaign.
The Tunisian tactician has yet to lose a match since taking over the helm at the Tanzanian giants and is now eyeing the two remaining trophies the Mainland Premier League title and the Federation Cup.
“We are happy to head into the break leading the league standings, and we’re also in the final of the Federation Cup,” Hamdi stated. “But I must say, our job is not done yet. The last matches are very important, and we must avoid mistakes. The fate of defending the Premier League title is in our hands. If we remain focused and error-free, we will be champions.”
He added: “It was also crucial to win the match against JKT Tanzania and qualify for the FA Cup final. Now we have another opportunity to defend the Federation Cup title. We have two big targets ahead, and we must finish the season strong.”
Young Africans have already claimed two domestic trophies this season - the Community Shield and Muungano Cup - and now aim to add the Premier League title and the Federation Cup to their collection.
Their performance in domestic competitions has helped soothe the disappointment of an underwhelming CAF Champions League campaign.
The club’s next fixture is scheduled for June 18, when they take on Tanzania Prisons at Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya. This will be their penultimate Premier League match of the season, with another league match and the Federation Cup final still to come.
Young Africans are currently at the top of the Premier League table and in a strong position to defend their title. A win against Prisons would edge them closer to retaining the championship, especially given the consistency they have shown under Hamdi’s leadership.
Despite their exit from continental competition, Young Africans have been dominant on the domestic front. Their fluid play and tactical discipline have seen them remain unbeaten under Hamdi’s stewardship, further boosting confidence ahead of the season finale.
“We know what’s at stake,” Hamdi reiterated. “We’ve worked hard to get to this point, and now it’s about focus and execution. We want to give our fans more reasons to celebrate.”
Young Africans’ players have been granted a short break and are expected to return to camp on June 1 to begin preparations for the final three matches. The break will also provide the technical bench time to assess fitness levels and fine-tune tactical approaches for the crucial encounters ahead.
The Federation Cup final, which is highly anticipated by fans, will offer Hamdi and his side a chance to reaffirm their domestic dominance and complete the season with a rare quadruple.
The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has not disclosed the exact date or venue of the final, but it is expected to be held shortly after the conclusion of the league campaign.
Hamdi’s ability to keep the squad motivated and cohesive has been a key factor in Young Africans’ success this season. His emphasis on discipline, tactical awareness, and game by game focus has helped transform the team into a formidable domestic force.
If Young Africans succeed in winning both the Premier League and the Federation Cup, it will be a historic achievement and a major milestone for Hamdi in his debut season with the club. More importantly, it will further cement Young Africans status as one of the dominant forces in Tanzanian football.
