SIMBA SC goalkeeper Moussa Camara is now the frontrunner in the race for the 2024/2025 Mainland Premier League Golden Glove award, following his 17th clean sheet of the season in a hard-fought 1-0 win against Singida Black Stars.

The match, played at the KMC Complex, saw Simba earn a crucial victory that keeps them in firm contention for the league title. With three fixtures remaining in the season, every win counts and Camara’s heroics between the posts were instrumental in securing all three points.

The win lifted Simba to 72 points, just one point behind current league leaders Young Africans (Yanga), who are on 73.

With the title race tightening, Camara’s consistent performances have not only boosted Simba’s hopes for the championship but have also brought him within touching distance of individual glory.

Camara’s clean sheet tally of 17 now puts him ahead of his closest rival, Djigui Diarra of Young Africans, who has recorded 15 clean sheets so far. No other goalkeeper in the league comes close to those figures, giving Camara a clear advantage in the race for the prestigious Golden Glove award.

With three matches remaining against Young Africans, Kagera Sugar, and Kengold, Camara (pictured) needs just two more clean sheets to reach 19 and all but secure the Golden Glove award.

Given his current form and the support of Simba’s defensive unit, it is a realistic target that could cement his status as the league's top shot-stopper this season.

The upcoming clash against arch-rivals Young Africans will be especially critical not only for the league title but also for the personal battle between the two standout goalkeepers of the season: Camara and Diarra.

The Dar es Salaam derby always carries intense emotion, but this time, it also represents a defining moment in the goalkeeping duel.

Should Camara manage to keep a clean sheet in two of the remaining three fixtures, the debate for the season’s best goalkeeper may be over. The Guinean has impressed fans and pundits alike with his commanding presence, agility, and leadership in goal throughout the campaign.

This season has been particularly outstanding for Camara. Since the first whistle of the season, he has shown exceptional discipline, communication, and composure qualities that have contributed significantly to Simba’s defensive solidity.

His ability to make crucial saves under pressure has not gone unnoticed and has often been the difference between a win and a draw for his team.

In the match against Singida Black Stars, Camara delivered another composed performance, shutting out the opposition’s attacking threats with confidence and poise. His presence gave Simba the assurance to push forward and eventually seal the win through a solitary goal.

As Simba chase both the league title and individual accolades for their standout performers, Camara remains central to their ambitions. His consistency has become a defining feature of Simba’s season and has positioned him as a key leader within the squad.

Fans and football analysts continue to praise the 26-year-old for his maturity and professionalism. His success this season is also a testament to Simba’s recruitment strategy, as the club has found in Camara a goalkeeper capable of delivering at the highest level.

Now, with three matches to go, Camara stands on the brink of making history not only by potentially helping Simba reclaim the Premier League crown but also by winning the Golden Glove in his debut full season with the club. What remains for him is to maintain his high standards in the final stretch of the campaign. If he does, the accolades both collective and individual will surely follow.
