SIMBA SC have maintained that they have no regrets about their decision to boycott the highly anticipated Tanzanian Mainland Premier League derby against Young Africans (Yanga), which was scheduled for Saturday.

The decision followed a dispute when the Msimbazi Reds were denied entry to Benjamin Mkapa Stadium for their final training session on Friday.

The incident sparked protests from Simba's management, who claimed it violated league regulations. The club later issued a statement declaring they would not honour the fixture.

Following Simba’s complaint, the Tanzanian Premier League Board (TPLB) responded by postponing the Dar es Salaam Derby and vowing to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.

Simba’s Media and Communication Manager, Ahmed Ally (pictured), defended the club’s decision, urging fans to support the move, stating that it was made in the club’s best interests.

"My fellow Simba fans, let me start by apologizing for the inconvenience caused today (Saturday)," Ally said.

"I sincerely apologize to all Simba fans who travelled from different areas to watch the match. However, it is important to understand that the decisions made by our leaders were in the best interest of the club and football in general. Therefore, as fans, we must accept them.

"The football authorities have already issued an official announcement regarding the postponement of the match. As Simba fans, we must respect that decision and wait for the ruling after investigations."

He concluded: "To those who had already arrived at the stadium, I urge you to return home safely. For those still on their way, I wish you a safe journey. May God grant you safe travels."

The TPLB has confirmed that a final decision regarding the match will be communicated in due course, with a new date for the derby set to be announced.

Before its postponement, the derby was expected to be a clash of strengths. Simba boast the best defense in the league, conceding only eight goals, while Young Africans have let in nine.

However, Young Africans possess a stronger attack, scoring 58 goals compared to Simba’s 46.
