STELLENBOSCH FC goalkeeper Oscarine Masuluke has issued a bold warning to Simba SC ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup semi-final second leg showdown this Sunday in South Africa.

Following their narrow 1-0 defeat in the first leg at the New Amaan Complex in Zanzibar, Stellenbosch are preparing to host the Msimbazi Reds in the return fixture of this high-stakes inter-club competition.

The result gave Simba a vital edge and brought them one step closer to reaching the CAF Confederation Cup final for the first time in the club’s history - having previously reached quarter-final stages in various continental campaigns.

Speaking about the match, Masuluke (pictured) admitted it was a hard-fought encounter but remained confident ahead of the second leg.

“The game was good, but unfortunately, we lost. We still have a chance when they come to our home. Every team was attacking each other, so for me, there was no best team - it was top teams versus top teams,” he was reported as saying.

With a tone of defiance, he added:

“It will be a lion against a lion, and the other lion is coming to our home - only to find another lion waiting for them. Let’s wait for Sunday, you guys will see.”

On the goal he conceded, Masuluke opted for a diplomatic stance:

“I don’t have a comment. It was the referee’s decision, so I have nothing to say about the goal.”

The second leg will be played on Sunday at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. The match was moved from Stellenbosch’s usual home ground, Danie Craven Stadium, which did not meet CAF’s eligibility standards.

Cape Town Stadium was also ruled out due to a scheduling conflict with a rugby match between the Stormers and Benetton.

Should Simba or Stellenbosch progress, they will face the winner of the other semi-final between RSB Berkane of Morocco and CS Constantine of Algeria

Berkane are in pole position after a commanding 4-0 first-leg victory at home.
