YOUNG Africans (Yanga) are poised to extend their lead at the top of the Mainland Premier League table to a commanding seven points when they face Pamba Jiji at the CCM Kirumba Stadium today.

Riding high on their recent form and capitalising on rivals Simba’s draw against Azam, Young Africans are determined to secure another crucial victory on their unbeaten away run.

The reigning champions, who comfortably defeated Mashujaa to establish a four-point gap, are aiming to replicate their dominant 4-0 victory over Pamba from the reverse fixture in October.

With nine wins and one draw in ten away matches this season, Young Africans are a formidable force on the road.

Addressing the media ahead of the crucial fixture, Young Africans’ head coach, Hamdi Miloud (pictured), exuded confidence.

“All the games are not easy to play. And tomorrow we play against Pamba. So, we prepare for this game the same as the other games. We will do everything again to win this game. We must take three points because these three points are very important for us. We are not here on holiday,” Miloud stated.

He emphasised the team’s respect for Pamba, while unequivocally stating their intent to win.

“We respect this team. We respect this club of Pamba. But we are here to win, I am not afraid to speak like that. We are here to win. Only to win, to take three points because we are Young Africans. And we must give great pleasure to the fans.

“But winning is not easy. Tomorrow is a strong game for us. Because all the club, all the team want to give everything against us. Look at JKT, they give everything. After that they make a balance for the result. So tomorrow we expect a strong game. But we are Young Africans and we are professionals. And we must do everything to win this game,” he said.

Pamba Jiji, currently 12th in the table, enter the match after a 2-2 draw with Singida Black Stars. Although they have struggled for consistency this season, their recent home form has been impressive, securing nine points from their last three matches at the Kirumba Stadium. This resurgence has significantly eased their relegation fears.

Key to Pamba’s hopes will be the form of Mathew Tegisi, who has made an immediate impact since joining from Shabana FC in January, contributing to five goals in his last five appearances.

They will be looking to capitalise on their home advantage and any potential complacency from the visitors.
