THE Business Registrations and Licensing Agency (BRELA) has revoked the registration of 11 companies under Leo Beneath London (LBL) for violating the country's laws.
These companies were initially registered as media and creative enterprises but later shifted to engage in activities that contradicted their registered business objectives, as outlined in their constitutions and registration guidelines.
Speaking in Dar es Salaam today, BRELA's Chief Executive Officer, Godfrey Nyaisa, confirmed that the companies' registrations were revoked effective February 27 this year.
He stated that the companies had violated Section 400A of the Companies Act, Chapter 212, which prohibits a registered company from conducting business activities not outlined in its core objectives.
Nyaisa explained that before taking this action, the agency followed the legal procedure under Section 400A (1), which requires the registrar to notify the company about the violation, specify the actions to be taken, and issue a notice for the company to provide an explanation.
"BRELA followed all procedures, including notifying the companies about the intended revocation through notices issued from February 2 to 26. However, they did not submit any explanations as required under the section, which has led to the revocation of their registration starting February 27," Nyaisa said.
