TANGA Regional Commissioner, Ambassador Dr. Batilda Burian, has commended President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan for the region’s impressive development progress over the past four years, attributing the achievements to her visionary and patriotic leadership.

Speaking during the launch of the Brand Tanzania Initiative on Monday in Tanga City, Dr. Burian said the Sixth Phase Government has successfully implemented major strategic infrastructure projects, notably the modernization of Tanga Port — a development she said has opened up new economic opportunities for the region’s residents.

The Brand Tanzania Initiative is a nationwide campaign aimed at enhancing the country’s image both locally and internationally. It focuses on building a strong national identity through branding, competitive marketing, and strategic positioning in regional and global arenas. The initiative is designed to showcase Tanzania's strengths, heritage, and potential to attract investment, tourism, and trade.

“Tanga has witnessed tremendous development within just four years — all thanks to President Samia’s dedicated and patriotic leadership,” RC Burian said. “Her vision has transformed our region and laid the groundwork for continued prosperity.”

She noted that the region's development is a result of deliberate government policies aimed at strengthening local economies and enhancing Tanzania's competitiveness in the East African region.

Dr. Burian also called on residents of Tanga and Tanzanians across the country to support government efforts by embracing patriotism, promoting national achievements, and safeguarding peace and unity — especially as the country heads towards the next General Election.

“We must protect our peace and preserve our unity. These are the foundations upon which all development is built. Let us approach the election period in harmony and conclude it as one united nation,” she urged.

She further applauded the Brand Tanzania Initiative team for their commitment to promoting the country’s positive image and supporting national development.

In a related development, RC Burian held discussions with Saida Bwanakheri, Director of SAB Investment, to explore ways to further develop the livestock sector in Tanga Region.

Ambassador Burian underscored the critical role of public-private partnerships in transforming the livestock industry, stressing the need for quality service delivery, education, and modern livestock management practices to uplift pastoralist communities.

SAB Investment is actively involved in livestock development, addressing key challenges facing herders. The company provides a range of services including farmer education, market access, linkage to financial institutions, project management, and the supply of quality animal feed.
