Kilombero Sugar has proudly joined hands with Morogoro Regional Referral Hospital in celebrating its 80th anniversary by donating construction materials to support the hospital’s infrastructure improvement efforts.
In a ceremony held at the hospital’s Outpatient Department (OPD) grounds, Kilombero Sugar officially handed over 1,200 litres of paint to the hospital. The event was graced by the Morogoro District Commissioner, Mussa Kilakala, who represented the Morogoro Regional Commissioner. Also in attendance were representatives from Kilombero Sugar and staff from the hospital.
Speaking at the event, Derick Stanley, Director of Corporate Affairs at Kilombero Sugar, emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting the communities it serves, with healthcare being a key priority.
“Kilombero Sugar remains dedicated to contributing to community development, and healthcare is one of our top focus areas. We appreciate the government’s efforts in creating a conducive business environment that enables us to engage meaningfully with the community,” said Stanley.
He further noted that the donation of 1,200 litres of paint is part of Kilombero Sugar’s stakeholder engagement initiative, recognizing the vital role the hospital plays in serving the community, including employees from the company’s estate hospital who are referred to the regional facility.
Dr. Daniel Nkungu, Medical Officer In-Charge at Morogoro Regional Referral Hospital, expressed gratitude for the support:
“This year marks a significant milestone for our hospital as we celebrate 80 years of service to the Morogoro region. As part of the celebrations, we are focused on improving our infrastructure and invited stakeholders to join us. We are delighted that Kilombero Sugar responded to our call and supported us with 1,200 litres of paint to help refurbish our facilities.”
Mussa Kilakala commended Kilombero Sugar for its contribution:
“The government appreciates all stakeholders who support its development agenda, especially in the health sector. Kilombero Sugar’s donation of 1,200 litres of paint equivalent to 60 buckets is a substantial contribution that will significantly enhance the hospital’s appearance. On behalf of the government, I extend our sincere thanks.”
He also encouraged other development partners to follow Kilombero Sugar’s example and support healthcare initiatives in the region.
Kilombero Sugar reaffirmed its commitment to continued collaboration with stakeholders to promote shared value and contribute to regional and national development.
