AS the country prepares for the October General Election, the ruling CCM has reaffirmed its commitment to peace, national unity and the responsible selection of candidates key pillars which the party believes are essential for ensuring a fair and democratic electoral process.

Speaking at a recent public gathering here, CCM Vice Chairman for Mainland Tanzania, Stephen Wasira, emphasised that peace and reconciliation remain central to the party’s mission.

He noted that CCM is committed to guiding Tanzania’s development journey, with peace as the foundation for prosperity.

Wasira assured the public that the upcoming elections would be conducted fairly, in line with democratic values, and called on all political actors to avoid incitement and to promote unity

In a move to strengthen internal democracy and transparency, CCM has restructured its nomination process for parliamentary and local government candidates.

Under the new system, aspirants must first submit their nomination forms to district-level offices, where a political committee will assess their suitability.

Shortlisted candidates will then be vetted further at the regional level before final approval by the party’s Central Committee.

This revised approach, the party says, is designed to ensure that only capable, trusted, and community-approved individuals represent CCM in the 2025 elections

Wasira highlighted that the party is not only preparing for the polls but also continuing to focus on completing key development projects across the country.

He stated that CCM is determined to field candidates who are both experienced and closely connected to the people in their constituencies.

“With the right leadership and a track record of delivering results, we are confident that CCM will earn the trust of Tanzanians once again,” Wasira said.

As the country heads toward the election, CCM has pledged to uphold peace, protect citizens’ rights, and ensure that the voices of the people are reflected in the selection of candidates reaffirming its vision of a stable and prosperous Tanzania.
