CCM has made an ambitious commitment to transform Kibaha District in Coast Region into a modern hub through a raft of infrastructure and service delivery projects — including electricity substations, a modern bus terminal, upgraded roads and expanded water networks.
Addressing thousands of supporters at Mama Salmin football grounds in Mlandizi yesterday, CCM presidential running mate Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi outlined a five-year development blueprint that he said would position Kibaha as a regional growth centre.
“We are going to build two electricity substations in Kibaha to ensure stable power to end the frequent blackouts residents have endured,” he said. “No village is being left behind. All 48 hamlets in Kibaha Rural will be connected to electricity.”
The October 29 General Election will see 37.6 million registered Tanzanians cast their votes for councillors, Members of Parliament and the presidency. CCM seeks to extend its decades-long rule, with Samia Suluhu Hassan being the party’s candidate.
Dr Nchimbi, a former ambassador and CCM Secretary General, made it clear that Kibaha — one of the fastest-growing districts in Coast Region — would be a priority area under the next CCM government.
In a string of development pledges, Dr Nchimbi announced plans to construct a modern bus terminal and market in Mlandizi, tarmac the 23-kilometre Mlandizi–Ruvu road and build the 65-kilometre Mlandizi–Maneromango road.
Other projects include upgrading internal roads in Mlandizi town and those connecting to the Kwala Industrial Area as well as extending clean water supply network to Misugusugu, Kongowe, Visiga, Mtongani and Ruvu.
Education infrastructure will also be expanded, with plans to build five new primary schools, four new secondary schools and add over 100 classrooms to existing institutions.
Health services are set for a boost through upgrading of the district hospital, construction of two new health centres and nine dispensaries.
In the agriculture sector — which employs over 70 percent of Kibaha’s population — Dr Nchimbi promised subsidised fertiliser and seeds, new irrigation schemes and improved extension services.
“Livestock keepers are also included — we’ll rehabilitate six old dams, build modern cattle dips and establish a new livestock auction yard,” he added.
Highlighting President Samia’s achievements since taking office in 2021, Dr Nchimbi said no sector had been left behind, citing progress in education, health, tourism, economic liberalisation and rural electrification.
“The transformation we promise for Kibaha mirrors what Samia has already achieved across the country,” he said. “We’re not starting from scratch — we’re building on a solid foundation.”
