THE Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has officially lifted the suspension on the Ali Hassan Mwinyi Stadium in Tabora, allowing it to host competitive league matches once again.

The decision follows a successful inspection that confirmed the stadium now meets the required infrastructural and licensing standards set by the federation. 

The facility had previously been barred from hosting matches due to a range of infrastructural deficiencies that failed to comply with the Club Licensing Regulations.  

Following a comprehensive renovation process, TFF inspectors revisited the venue and verified that all necessary improvements had been completed to the satisfaction of football authorities. 

In a statement issued yesterday, the federation announced: 

“The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has lifted the suspension on the Ali Hassan Mwinyi Stadium in Tabora after it met the regulatory and football standards required for league matches. The stadium had initially been closed due to inadequate infrastructure as outlined under the Club Licensing Regulations. Following the recommended repairs and improvements, it has now been cleared for use.” 

TFF further reminded clubs to continuously invest in maintaining and upgrading their home grounds in collaboration with owners - particularly for teams that do not possess their own facilities - to ensure that all league matches are played in venues that promote competition, safety, and the commercial value of Tanzanian football. 

With the ban now lifted, teams that previously used the Tabora-based venue as their home ground can resume hosting matches there. Among them is TRA United SC, formerly known as Tabora United, which is set to play its upcoming Mainland Premier League fixture against Mashujaa FC on October 22 in front of its home supporters. 

TRA United, recently acquired by the Tanzania Revenue Authority, confirmed that the club will continue using the Ali Hassan Mwinyi Stadium as its temporary home while it finalizes long-term plans to relocate to Dar es Salaam. 

The reopening of the stadium marks a positive step for football development in the Tabora region, restoring a key venue that serves both league matches and community football activities.
