SINGIDA Regional Commissioner Halima Dendego has urged traders especially those selling roasted indigenous chicken to enhance preparations and ensure they provide excellent services to the thousands of visitors expected for the International Workers’ Day celebrations.
The national event will take place in the region, and local authorities anticipate an influx of guests from across the country.
Dendego made the appeal following an impromptu late-night visit at 3:00 am to Ubungo area in Singida town on Thursday, a well-known spot where vendors specialise in roasting chicken around the clock.

“We are here to assess the situation and ensure that our visitors for May Day have a comfortable and enjoyable experience,” she said.
She added: “We expect over 6,000 guests in Singida, and they will be staying here in the municipality. It is crucial that all service providers, especially food vendors, are ready to meet the high demands of our guests.”

“Every vendor must ensure that they offer not only delicious food but also operate in a clean and welcoming environment. We want our visitors to leave with positive memories of their time in Singida, especially when it comes to the quality of our local delicacies. Singida's chicken is renowned for being delicious and tender, and we want to showcase that,” she said.
