Balile, Machumu re-elected as TEF leaders for another four-year term
MEMBERS of the Tanzania Editors Forum (TEF) have elected Deodatus Balile and Bakari Machumu to retain their positions for another four-year term.
Balile, who sought re-election as Chairperson, and Machumu as Vice Chairperson, were endorsed after addressing 147 members.
As there were no other contenders for the two posts, and the election guidelines stipulate a vote only when objections are raised, members were asked to cast a 'yes' or 'no' vote.
Announcing the outcome, Electoral Committee Chairperson Frank Sanga said that under Rules Seven and Eight, no objections were filed, and thus Balile and Machumu were declared duly elected to serve for the next four years.
Meanwhile, TEF proceeded with the election of Executive Committee members. Out of 12 candidates, only seven will be elected, as provided by the Forum’s constitution.
