Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Philip Mpango, has emphasized the significance of collaboration between the Government, health stakeholders, and the community in enhancing healthcare services in the country.

Dr. Mpango made the remarks while officiating the annual conference of Regional and District Medical Officers in Dodoma, which is themed “The Role of Medical Officers in Improving Quality of Healthcare Services towards Universal Health Coverage.”

The Vice President stated that the government will continue to create an enabling environment for healthcare professionals to effectively execute their duties, while acknowledging the crucial contribution of health stakeholders in bringing innovation, building capacity, and reaching marginalized communities.

He noted that the conference is a vital platform for collaboration and setting joint strategies to ensure access to quality healthcare services for all citizens.

Speaking at the conference, Amref Health Africa in Tanzania Country Director, Dr. Florence Temu, said that Amref’s participation in the conference is part of its ongoing collaboration with the Government of Tanzania to strengthen health systems at community, regional, and district levels.

“This conference is a vital platform for assessing healthcare service delivery, discussing challenges and successes, and setting joint strategies to improve quality service delivery to citizens,” said Dr. Temu.

The conference, which started on July 11, 2025, is expected to conclude on July 14, 2025. It has brought together various stakeholders from the health sector, including government leaders, civil society organizations, development partners, and health professionals, with the goal of enhancing collaboration and setting collective strategies to improve healthcare services in the country.

Amref Tanzania has pledged to continue collaborating closely with the Government to improve and enhance public health in the country. Through strategic partnerships, innovation, and community-centered approaches, Amref will continue working to ensure access to quality healthcare services for all in Tanzania.
