CCM presidential candidate and incumbent President Samia Suluhu Hassan has pledged to establish tractor hire centres across the country to ease the burden on farmers and expand agricultural productivity.
Speaking during a major campaign rally held at Samora Stadium in Iringa, Samia said the tractors would be hired out to farmers at half the price charged by private owners, making mechanisation more affordable for smallholder farmers.
She further assured voters that if re-elected in the 29 October 2025 General Election, her government would continue to provide subsidies on fertiliser and other farm inputs.
Samia highlighted that the subsidies had already proven successful, particularly in maize production, which has positioned Tanzania as the second-largest producer in Africa with yields exceeding 10 million tonnes.
The candidate reiterated her administration’s commitment to completing major development projects in road infrastructure, healthcare, water supply and education.
In addition to her campaign promises, Samia used the rally to drum up support for CCM’s parliamentary and ward councillor candidates, urging voters to back the party at all levels of government.
The Iringa town rally marked the conclusion of her campaign tour in the region, following earlier stops in Nyororo and Mafinga in Mufindi District, as well as Kalenga in Iringa Rural.
