MBEYA City have officially unveiled their squad for the upcoming 2025/26 Mainland Premier League season, signaling their return to the top flight after a two-year absence.
The squad revealing ceremony, held at Sokoine Stadium during the annual Mbeya City Day, showcased a 35-player roster with a clear objective: securing a top-half finish.
The club has made strategic acquisitions to bolster its ranks. Among the notable new faces is Congolese centre back Kelvin Kingu, who arrives from Tabora United with the captain’s armband from his former club.
The ‘Purple Nations’ have also strengthened their midfield with two foreign signings: Gambian defensive midfielder Famara Camara and Nigerian defensive midfielder Paschal Onyedika, who joins from the Turkish side MK Celik.
The technical bench, tasked with guiding the team's ambitions, will be led by head coach Malale Hamsini, assisted by Mussa Rashid and goalkeeping coach Wilbert Mweta.
Following the squad unveiling, Mbeya City faced Azam in a friendly match, with the visitors securing a 2-0 victory. The goals for Azam were netted by Ivorian centre back Landry Zouzou and Tunisian forward Taieb Ben Zitoun.
Mbeya City's league campaign begins with a challenging away trip to Manyara to face Fountain Gate on September 18, 2025.
They will then face another formidable test six days later at the Chamazi Complex against Azam.
The club's return to the top flight is eagerly anticipated by their passionate supporters, who are hopeful for a successful season.
