THE Drug Control and Enforcement Authority (DCEA) has confiscated electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) laced with cannabis in Dar es Salaam, warning of the serious health risks posed by these products.
The e-cigarettes were seized from popular entertainment spots, Bad London in Temeke and Sanaa Reggae Bar in Masaki, after being imported from the United Kingdom.
Laboratory tests revealed that the products contained dangerous chemicals such as THC, cadmium, mercury, and benzene, which can affect brain development, cause cancer, and harm unborn children.
DCEA Commissioner General, Aretas Lyimo, said the seizure demonstrates how drug networks are changing tactics, using electronic products and food items to attract young people.
He urged the public to remain vigilant and report sellers, distributors, and traffickers of such drugs by calling 119.
