The Guardian Limited offices in Dar es Salaam today welcomed a lively group of Grade One pupils from Genesis Schools as part of an educational study tour designed to introduce young learners to the world of media publishing.
The visit, involved 90 pupils accompanied by 18 adults, including teachers and assistants.
The school described the tour as an opportunity for the children to gain first-hand experience of how newspapers are produced and to better understand the critical role journalism plays in society.
During the visit, the pupils were taken on a guided tour of the newsroom, editorial department, and printing area, where they observed how news stories are compiled and prepared for both print and digital platforms.
Journalists and editors at The Guardian engaged the students with simple explanations about the daily news cycle and answered a flurry of questions from the eager young visitors.
The Guardian staff expressed their appreciation for the visit, noting that such early exposure can spark future interest in journalism and media careers.
The visit concluded with a group photo and words of thanks from both sides, marking a memorable moment for the young learners and reinforcing the role of media houses in community education and engagement.
