ALLIANCE Caravans began their title defence in the 2025 Petrofuel TCA Caravans T20 Cup in a commanding fashion, securing a 40-run victory over Park Mobile Lions in Dar es Salaam on Sunday afternoon.

Aurobindo's Country Manager Vipin Abraham (R) hands over the Player of the Match prize to Alliance Caravans' player Kartik Nair upon the conclusion of the outfit's 2025 Petrofuel TCA Caravans T20 Cup tie versus Park Mobile Lions in Dar es Salaam last weekend. After winning the toss, Alliance Caravans chose to bat first and made full use of the conditions in the opening fixture at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club venue.

The opening pair of Jitin Singh and Ajith Augastin set the tone with a solid 75-run stand, laying the groundwork for a competitive total.

Augastin led the charge with a fluent 60 off 41 balls, while skipper Singh added a steady 32 off 29.

Despite the early pressure, Anmol Yadav once again impressed with the ball for Park Mobile Lions, claiming two important wickets and keeping the opponents' middle order in check.

Alliance Caravans eventually posted 163 runs for five wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

In response, Park Mobile Lions started positively, with opener Kashif Ahmad scoring a quick 35 off 25 balls, threatening to mount a serious challenge.

However, the chase quickly unravelled under the weight of a disciplined Alliance Caravans' bowling performance.

The breakthrough came courtesy of Karthik Nair, whose match-winning spell of 4-25 included a stunning over, in which he claimed three wickets, dismantling the middle order and shifting the momentum entirely.

He was ably supported by Kassim Nassoro, who returned figures of 3-27 in 3.4 overs, ensuring that Park Mobile Lions were bowled out for 123 in 17.4 overs.

Nair's explosive performance earned him the Ras Logistics Player of the Match Award, while Yalinde Maurice was awarded the Colourflex Dot Wizard for his 11 dot balls that helped build pressure throughout the innings.

Power-hitter Akhil Anil claimed the Pepsi Power Hitter Award for his late-innings fireworks.

In line with the Caravans Green Earth initiative, a total of 22 samplings were pledged following the match, supporting the environmental legacy of the tournament.

The organisers stated that one tree is planted for each boundary and 20 trees for standout performances such as either five-wicket hauls or hat-tricks.
