FORMER President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete said the preparation process for Vision 2050 was professional and inclusive, noting that he personally contributed his views as an ordinary citizen.

He made the remarks  during the launch of the National Development Vision 2050 held at the Julius Nyerere Convention Centre (JKCC) in Dodoma, today July 17, 2025 where national leaders, stakeholders, and citizens gathered to witness the unveiling of the country’s long-term development roadmap.

Kikwete stated that the Vision reflects the country’s needs, aspirations, and hopes — and is the roadmap that will transition Tanzania from a middle-income to a high-income economy.

"I highly commend the government and the team behind the preparation of Vision 2050. I believe it speaks to every Tanzanian," said Kikwete.

Meanwhile, Zanzibar President and Chairman of the House of Representatives, Dr. Hussein Mwinyi, urged Tanzanians to receive the 2050 National Development Vision with hope, as it addresses various aspects of citizens' lives.

He emphasized that the Vision focuses on development for every Tanzanian and the nation at large, stressing it is every citizen’s duty to understand their role in ensuring its effective implementation.
