PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has directed the Law Reform Commission and the Attorney General’s Office to begin drafting proposals to amend laws that will support the implementation of Tanzania’s Vision 2050.

The Head of State made the call as she launched  the National Development Vision 2050 held at the Julius Nyerere Convention Centre (JKCC) in Dodoma, today July 17, 2025 where national leaders, stakeholders, and citizens gathered to witness the unveiling of the country’s long-term development roadmap.

President Samia emphasized that legal and policy frameworks must align with the newly launched Vision to ensure its success.

“I commend those who prepared the Vision, but now let’s implement it through action, not just words,” said President Samia, stressing the need to use national resources strategically and work with resilience to achieve meaningful development.

She noted that while the Vision was locally developed with broad citizen input, the real challenge lies in execution — and every Tanzanian must play a role in turning the plan into reality.

On a lighter note, President Samia mentioned Vice President Dr. Philip Mpango’s wish to retire, stating, “He may rest, but Vision 2050 remains his responsibility,” highlighting his contribution to both Vision 2025 and the current roadmap.

She concluded by reaffirming the government’s priority to grow the economy through effective use of the country’s resources, despite the long journey ahead.
