THE Tanzania Police Force has launched an investigation into reports circulating on social media about the alleged abduction of former Tanzanian Ambassador to Cuba, Humphrey Polepole.
Police Spokesperson (DCP) David Misime said the force has seen the reports, which are claimed to have been shared by Polepole’s relatives, and has already begun looking into them.
Misime added that the police are still awaiting Polepole to report to the Director of Criminal Investigations’ (DCI) Office to provide explanations regarding various allegations he made on social media.
“Polepole was issued a summons in accordance with national laws to report to the DCI Office, but as of now, he has not complied with these instructions,” he said.
Meanwhile, videos circulating online show a person identifying himself as Agustino Polepole, claiming to be Humphrey Polepole’s brother, alleging that his sibling was abducted on the night of October 6, 2025.
Another video appears to show a floor with bloodstains allegedly from the house where Polepole was living before the alleged abduction, though the authenticity of these videos has not been officially verified.
