TANZANIANS will soon gain streamlined access to more than 30 government services under one digital platform, part of the broader Digital Tanzania Project (DTP)—a $150 million initiative funded by the World Bank.
Macrice Mbodo, the postmaster general, said in a briefing for journalists during a site tour of the project that the Tanzania Postal Corporation (TPC) was preparing to launch a nationwide one-stop government service delivery system by February 2026.
This initiative will significantly enhance service delivery by consolidating key government functions into a single digital interface, he said, viewing it as a game-changer. “We are bringing government services closer to the people in an affordable and efficient manner,” he said.
Currently, TPC handles delivery services for nine state agencies, expecting that by early next year it will be covering 32 agencies, with the services made available through digital service shops.
They will be established across all regions to provide residents everywhere with easy access to vital services such as permits, licenses and identification documents, he stated, noting that the digital platform is jointly implemented by the Communication and Information Technology ministry and the Public Service Management and Good Governance wing of the President’s Office.
With over 90 percent of installations completed, the five-year project is slated for completion in October 2026, setting up a one-stop government services platform and an e-commerce innovation centre, he said.
The two systems are designed to modernize service delivery and support Tanzania’s broader digital economy strategy, he said, while World Bank representative Paul Seaden commended the project's progress.
The World Bank is pleased with the progress, he said, asserting that the visit was intended to visualize what is really happening on the ground, and this is good progress.
So far DTP has successfully integrated 898 digital systems in the public sector and private institutions, enhancing interoperability and reducing fragmentation across public service delivery, he said.
Officials insist that the link up will boost transparency, efficiency and enhance citizen satisfaction, especially in rural and underserved areas. As Tanzania moves forward with its digital transformation agenda, the project is seen as a major step toward inclusive and accessible governance.
