Samia vows heavy investment in early childhood development, infrastructure

CCM presidential candidate Samia Suluhu Hassan has vowed to prioritise early childhood development (ECD) across the country, promising major investments in education, health, water, electricity and infrastructure if re-elected.

Addressing a campaign rally in Uyui District, Tabora Region, Samia said the government has already rolled out a new programme to construct modern and well-equipped classrooms dedicated to early education nationwide.

“Early childhood education is critical. We are building these facilities because many parents previously had no opportunity to start their children early. Some were focused on farming and livestock keeping, while others lacked access to nearby schools. Going forward, every new school will include early childhood education buildings,” she said.

Samia further said more than 8.2bn/- has recently been invested in strengthening the health sector in the region, while in the next phase the government will intensify the construction of both rural and urban roads. She also promised further expansion of electricity and clean energy projects.

On water, the CCM flagbearer revealed that 15 major projects have already raised water access in the region to 60 percent.
As part of the Lake Victoria water supply initiative, a one-million-litre tank will soon be built at Ilolangulu Ward to improve supply. She also pledged construction of Loya Bridge to boost local connectivity.

“We know that as the population grows, so too does the demand for essential services like water, electricity, health and education. That is why we are expanding water supply, connecting villages to power, building more classrooms for both primary and secondary schools, and establishing vocational training colleges to equip young people with practical skills,” she added.

On agriculture, Samia assured tobacco farmers in Tabora that those who have not been paid by some companies will soon receive their dues. She noted that more licensed buying companies have been introduced to resolve payment delays.

While campaigning in Urambo District, she announced that investment in tobacco farming support had significantly increased, raising farmers’ earnings from several million dollars in 2021/22 to over $50 million this year.

“We will continue to seek new markets for tobacco to ensure farmers benefit from their hard work,” she said.
Samia further called for unity among CCM members, urging them to avoid divisions and remain solidly behind the party before and after elections.

During the Uyui rally, parliamentary aspirant for Igalula, Juma Mustafa revealed that a total of 127.8bn/- has been allocated to development projects in the constituency.

Shafini Sumar, Uyui Parliamentary aspirant thanked the government for the Lake Victoria water project which has improved supply in Uyui, noting that all villages in the constituency have now been connected to power. He however called for further investment in road construction.

He said the CCM's government has done tremendous initiatives to transform lives for Uyui people and the region in general.

In Urambo, parliamentary candidate Margreth Sitta expressed gratitude for the government’s efforts in expanding water supply and improving livelihoods, while appealing for the construction of the Usoke–Sikonge road to strengthen economic activities in the district.
