HEMED Suleiman Abdulla, a member of CCM’s Central Committee has urged selected party candidates to make full use of the special training sessions provided to them.
The sessions cover campaign strategies, leadership qualities, and practical skills needed to deliver results for citizens and the nation.
Abdulla made these remarks during the opening ceremony of a dedicated training programme for CCM candidates contesting parliamentary, representative, and council seats. The event was held at Wawi Makonyo Hall in Chake Chake District, Pemba.
He emphasized that every candidate should recognize that by being nominated, they have already assumed a leadership mantle. As such, they are expected to understand and embody the qualities of good leadership. “A good leader must be confident, use language effectively, think creatively, and have a clear vision for addressing challenges while fostering development for the people,” Abdulla said.
He further highlighted that candidates must demonstrate strong management skills by handling people and resources responsibly. He urged them to exercise patience, as leadership often involves working with individuals of diverse character and navigating complex challenges that require tolerance and perseverance.
Abdulla also stressed the importance of discipline, readiness to drive change, fairness, continuous personal development, and uniting people rather than dividing them for personal gain. He encouraged candidates to familiarize themselves with the boundaries of their constituencies, including streets, villages, shehias, and wards. This knowledge, he said, would help them effectively communicate about local development projects and challenges.
Candidates were advised to make realistic promises that can be delivered, and to actively promote peace and social cohesion, which Abdulla described as the foundation of development. He encouraged them to take full advantage of the training sessions by asking questions, sharing experiences, and learning from one another, with the goal of improving both personal and campaign effectiveness.
Abdulla expressed confidence that the training would yield tangible results, including the successful conduct of civil and disciplined campaigns, the promotion of CCM’s manifesto, and publicising development achievements—all aimed at ensuring a decisive victory for the party.
Supporting these remarks, Kajoro Vyohoroka, CCM Secretary for South Pemba, said the training aims to enhance candidates’ skills and knowledge, particularly regarding how to present clear and actionable proposals to party members and the public.
He confirmed that CCM is committed to winning all nine constituencies in South Pemba, securing widespread support for President Samia Suluhu Hassan, Vice Chairman of CCM for Zanzibar Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, and all other CCM candidates.
During the session, Frank Uhaula, presenting on candidate responsibilities during election campaigns, reminded participants that CCM’s primary goal in elections is to secure victory, maintain political leadership, and continue serving the people.
He emphasised that candidates must recognize they are contesting under CCM’s banner, and therefore must strictly adhere to all party guidelines, directives, and ethical standards throughout the campaign period.
The training program, Abdulla concluded, is not only intended to equip candidates with practical campaigning skills but also to ensure that the party remains focused on unity, development, and peaceful democratic participation in Zanzibar’s upcoming elections.
