ALLIANCE Caravans' cricketer, Karthik Nair, has wrapped up a stupendous outing in the 2025 Petrofuel TCA Caravans Cup, laying his hands on the Unique Best Player of the Tournament award.

Karthik's club gallantly defended its title in the showdown with a comprehensive 51-run victory over RAAH Upanga Club in an exciting final at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club last Sunday.

The in-form cricketer collected 849 points for his all-round brilliance in the tournament, which got underway on June 28 and concluded on Sunday.

The cricketer, who enjoyed great form for the better part of the showpiece, made a significant contribution with both bat and ball, as his club embarked on a thrilling spell that culminated in a dominant victory over the rivals RAAH Upanga Club.

Karthik ended up in the second spot in the table of the showdown's cricketers with most wickets, amassing 19 wickets in nine encounters. The performer bowled a total of 34.3 overs, had three maiden overs, and leaked 228 runs.

In Karthik's best performance with the ball, the player ended up with 4-25 when Alliance Caravans opened their campaign with a resounding 40-run defeat of Park Mobile Lions on June 29.

He was just one wicket adrift of the showdown's best wicket taker, Ajay Yadav of RAAH Upanga Club. Yadav took 21 wickets in 10 matches and leaked 228 runs.

The RAAH Upanga Club player secured 4-7 in his best bowling display, catapulting his squad to a six-wicket thrashing of KX Intek Gymkhana on July 19.

Despite tying Karthik on the total of wickets taken, Ramesh Alluri, also playing for RAAH Upanga Club, took the third spot, given that the cricketer had given away a larger number of runs, 294, in 38 overs bowled.

Alluri's best bowling effort saw him garner 4-27 in RAAH Upanga Club's 22-run win over Flashnet Aces on July 20.

Alliance Caravans' youthful bowler Yalinde Maurice and RAAH Upanga Club's experienced cricketer Sanjay Bom wrapped up the top five of the leading wicket-takers' table.

Maurice finished fourth with 15 wickets in nine fixtures, leaking 148 runs and managing an average rate of 9.87.

The promising cricketer had his best bowling effort in his club's 68-run defeat of Aurobindo Aga Khan SC on July 27, garnering 5-12.

Bom, albeit tying Maurice on the wickets taken, took the fifth spot based on the 266 runs given away in 10 ties played. He secured one maiden over and notched an average of 17.73 in the 10 encounters.

His best bowling performance ended with the cricketer grabbing 3-23 when RAAH Upanga Club dispatched Harab Motors Pak Stars by 36 runs on June 29.

Karthik was equally efficient in batting, considering the performer took 15th place in the table of the showdown's batsmen with the most runs, having garnered 163 runs in nine fixtures.

The Alliance Caravans cricketer had three not-out showings in the nine games, posting an average of 40.75.

He crossed the half-century mark to amass 56 runs in his best batting display, as Alliance Caravans commanded a nine-run defeat of Harab Motors Pak Stars on July 20.

The 2025 Petrofuel TCA Caravans Cup's Best Batsman prize went to Karthik's teammate, Amal Rajeevan, as the player scored 364 runs in nine matches.

Alliance Caravans impressively made it to the showdown's final, having laboured to beat Aurobindo Aga Khan SC by one run in a closely contested last four tie, known as 'Qualifier'.

The Asuri Rajendra-led RAAH Upanga Club had to play two ties to ultimately book a place in the final, securing a four-wicket victory over Harab Motors Pak Stars in the 'Eliminator' and, thereafter, edging Aurobindo Aga Khan SC by three wickets in the second 'Qualifier'.
