JIUZHOU Patel Samaj‘s cricketers have failed to snap their losing stint in the 2025 Petrofuel TCA Caravans Cup, going down to Harab Motors Pak Stars by nine wickets in Dar es Salaam early this week.
It was a fourth loss in a row for Jiuzhou Patel Samaj, leaving them at the bottom of the showdown’s standing with no point in the four games and an inferior -3.6415 Net Run Rate.
Having won the toss and elected to bat first, Jiuzhou Patel Samaj were found wanting with the bat-finding it difficult to forge meaningful partnerships and ultimately posting 74/10 in 17.5 overs.
Youthful player Acrey Pascal was the only cricketer with a significant contribution at the crease when the squad took the crease, nailing 32 runs consisting of three fours and a six.
Pascal’s noticeable efforts propelled Jiuzhou Patel Samaj to 45-4 when he left the crease almost halfway through the innings.
Seasoned cricketers Athumani Athumani Kakonzi and Issa Kikasi had short spells at the crease- with Kakonzi chipping in with 11 runs and Kikasi making his way back with 10 runs not out.
The Jiuzhou Patel Samaj batting struggles were in view from the first few overs as Abdallah Hassan, who opened the innings with Pascal, returned for duck.
The same could be said of the outfit’s low-order cricketers who were victims of early dismissals, as Abubakar Juma attempted to make his presence count- staying two runs short of two digits.
Chasing 75 runs to register a victory, the Rana Waqas-led Harab Motors Pak Stars had little trouble living up to expectations given than they scored 77/1 in 5.2 overs.
Opener Mohamed Omary exhibited his batting virtuosity in the obvious smooth chase, amassing 49 runs not out at a strike rate of 272.22.
The youthful Omary forged a solid second-wicket partnership with Zafar Khan, who scored eight run not out, repelling efforts by Jiuzhou Patel Samaj to defend their paltry total.
Much as promising cricketer Ivan Ismail experienced a short stay, notching a mere 13 runs, reaching the needed target was not a difficult task, thanks to presence of equally competent cricketers in the squad.
Harab Motors Pak Stars’ duo of Mohammad Ali and Muhammad Adil tormented Jiuzhou Patel Samaj batsmen, frustrating the latter’s plan to end with an imposing figure.
The two bowlers were vividly menacing, as Ali ended his fours overs with 3-10 and Adil posted 3-13 in 2.5, cleaning up Jiuzhou Patel Samaj’s low order.
Youthful cricketer Raymond Francis made matters difficult for Jiuzhou Patel Samaj having taken 2-10 in his four overs.
The RAS Logistics Player of the Match prize was won by Harab Motors Pak Stars’ Omary for his scintillating batting outing, which had him scoring 49 runs.
Omary further took the Pepsi Power Hitter award having chalked up three sixes.
Harab Motors Pak Stars boasted a clean sweep of individual honours, given Ali ended up with the Colourflex Dot Wizard award with his 16 dot balls- frustrating the Jiuzhou Patel Samaj efforts to secure runs.
The eventual winners now occupy the third spot in the 2025 Petrofuel TCA Caravans Cup, having garnered the 2.4248 Net Run Rate in four ties, winning three and going down once.
Harab Motors Pak Stars, as a result, is lately putting pressure on the showdown’s title contenders, Raah Upanga Club and Alliance Caravans, now positioned first and second respectively.
