ALLIANCE Caravans reaffirmed their dominance in Tanzania's club cricket, lifting the Petrofuel TCA Caravans Cup 2025 silverware after garnering a comprehensive 51-run victory over RAAH Upanga Club in the grand finale in Dar es Salaam last weekend.
Winning the toss, Alliance Caravans elected to bat first and posted a competitive 158/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Opener Amal Rajeevan (29 off 19) gave a brisk start before contributions from Jitin Pratap Singh (24) and Kassim Nassoro (27) steadied the innings.
The real fireworks came from Akhil Anil, whose unbeaten 32 off just 16 deliveries — laced with three towering sixes — provided the perfect late-innings flourish. RAAH Upanga’s Sanjay Bom (2/34) and Asuri Rajendra (3/34) were the pick of the bowlers.
In response, RAAH Upanga Club’s cricketers never quite found their rhythm, losing wickets at regular intervals.
The chase began dramatically with a spectacular catch by Karthik Nair at point, setting the tone for the innings.
The Caravans’ fielders were electric throughout, pulling off sharp stops, run-outs, and catches that kept constant pressure on the opposition. Jatin Darji fought hard with 29 runs, but the Caravans’ bowling unit maintained relentless pressure.
Karthik Nair (2/15, 14 dot balls) was instrumental in choking RAAH Upanga Club's run flow, while Akhil Anil (1/21), Justin Thomas (2/28), and Ajith Augastin (1/14) ensured no comeback was possible.
RAAH Upanga Club's innings eventually folded for 107 runs in 18.4 overs, sealing Alliance Caravans’ emphatic win.
The final's RAS Player of the Match went to Akhil Anil for his unbeaten 32 runs off 16 balls and one wicket; the cricketer, moreover, won the Pepsi Power Hitter award for hammering three sixes. Anil's teammate, Karthik Nair, walked away with the Colourflex Dot Wizard prize, having executed 14 dot balls.
Manzoor Ahmed (Harab Motors Pak Stars) laid his hands on the Pepsi Power Hitter prize for executing 16 sixes. Colourflex Dot Wizard: Ajay Yadav (Raah Upanga) – 125 dots.
