SIMBA SC’s newly appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors, Crescentius Magori, has urged fans to maintain solidarity and unity as the club prepares for the new season, warning against turning on leaders when challenges arise.
Magori was appointed by Simba SC’s investor and president Mohamed Dewji in accordance with the club’s memorandum of association. Alongside his appointment, President Dewji also named seven new members to the Board of Directors - Hussein Kitta, Azim Dewji, Rashid Shangazi, Swedi Mkwabi, Zuly Chandoo, George Ruhango, and Barbara Gonzalez.
Calling on fans to stand firmly behind the club’s leadership, including chairman Murtaza Mangungu, Magori emphasized that unity will be key to achieving success in the 2025/2026 campaign.
“We have to unite more than ever. The next season is going to be huge for Simba if we keep this solidarity alive among us,” Magori said. “When things don’t go as planned, we need solutions, not finger-pointing.”
Simba have finalized their preparations for the new season, which will officially kick off with a friendly against Kenya’s Gor Mahia on Simba Day today. The match will precede the highly anticipated Community Shield clash against archrivals Young Africans on September 16, with the two clubs set to meet again in a league encounter on December 13.
The club recently wrapped up a productive pre-season tour that featured several friendlies against Egyptian opposition. Simba registered three wins - 2-0 over Wadi Degla, 2-0 against Carabat FC, and 1-0 against Al Zurfi - alongside a 1-1 draw with FC Fassell and a narrow 4-3 defeat to ENPPI Club.
The results showcased the potential of Simba’s revamped and dynamic squad, while the loss offered the coaching staff valuable insights into areas that need improvement.
The countdown to the annual Simba Day Festival officially began in Iringa, with a series of nationwide events leading up to the main celebrations on September 10, where the Gor Mahia match will headline the festivities.
After the Community Shield against Young Africans, Simba will travel to Botswana for a CAF Champions League fixture against Gaborone United on September 20, with the return leg set to follow shortly after.
The Reds of Msimbazi are determined to return to the CAF Champions League group stage this season, having narrowly missed out last year when they were eliminated in the CAF Confederation Cup final.
With pre-season now complete and a series of crucial matches ahead, Simba are intensifying preparations in Dar es Salaam as fans eagerly await what promises to be a defining campaign.
