SIMBA SC, bolstered by their strong away performances in the CAF Confederation Cup, are confident ahead of today's quarter-final first leg against Egyptian giants Al Masry at New Suez Stadium in Ismailia.

Coach Fadlu Davids (pictured) believes their experience - including a win in Tunisia, a draw in Libya, and a commendable performance despite a loss in Algeria - has prepared them for the challenge.

This marks Simba's fourth North African away game this season, pitting them against Al Masry, a strong Egyptian Premier League side currently sitting fourth with 31 points.

Al Masry's domestic record includes eight wins, seven draws, and three losses, with a +8 goal difference. However, they faced challenges in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage, securing only nine points.

In contrast, Simba dominated Group A with 13 points (four wins, one draw, one loss), finishing ahead of CS Constantine, Bravos Do Maquis, and CS Sfaxien.

Davids reports that the team had successful training sessions post-international break and remains confident despite the absence of Che Malone Fondoh.

He highlights Simba's impressive away form, emphasizing their strong possession, defensive solidity, and attacking efficiency.

"Like all coaches, I would prefer a fully available squad. However, we are prepared to adapt and execute our game plan.

“Moussa Camara is our only current concern, and we will assess his fitness before the match. Otherwise, the team is ready," stated Davids.

Regarding their away form, Davids added: "We have performed exceptionally well in our previous away matches, demonstrating control and dominance. Our primary objective for this match is to secure a positive result to take back to Dar es Salaam."

"We aim to score an away goal, which would provide us with a significant advantage. We recognize Al Masry as a strong opponent, but we have conducted thorough analysis."

Previously detailing his analysis of Al Masry, he said: "They present the toughest challenge yet. Their tactical approach, featuring a three-man defense and aggressive high pressing, requires careful planning. We have thoroughly analyzed their matches and are ready for the challenge."

This season presents a new opportunity for Simba to make history by advancing to the CAF Confederation Cup semifinals for the first time, having previously reached the quarterfinals.

Simba last reached the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finals in the 2021/22 season, where they were eliminated by South African side Orlando Pirates on penalties after a 1-1 aggregate draw.

With thorough preparation and confidence in their away form, Simba hope to seize this opportunity and make history by advancing to the semifinals for the first time.
