YOUNG Africans Sports Club (Yanga ) are bracing for a significant reshuffle in their squad ahead of the upcoming 2025/26 football season, with official announcements on player departures and contract renewals expected to roll out soon.
Speaking on the matter, Young Africans’ head of communications, Ali Kamwe (pictured), confirmed that he has received a comprehensive technical report outlining all the changes to be implemented as part of the club’s preparations for the new campaign.
“I have already received the full squad improvement report. The document details players whose contracts have expired and won’t be renewed, others whose deals have been extended, some who have been released, and a few who have been offered new contracts,” Kamwe explained.
He added that the media department is currently coordinating how to communicate these developments to the public, noting that a decision is being made on whether to start with marquee players or lesser-known squad members.
One of the club’s first strategic moves was the unveiling of Malian midfielder Moussa Balla Conte. According to Kamwe, the early announcement was a calculated effort to build momentum and excitement among supporters.
“Introducing Moussa Balla Conte early was part of our broader strategy to energize fans and demonstrate our intent. We still have several new players who will be unveiled soon,” he added.
Among the players confirmed to be leaving is Zambian striker Kennedy Musonda, whose contract has expired. He has already departed Tanzania and completed a move to a club in Israel.
Other notable names rumored to be on the exit list include: Clatous Chama, Jonas Mkude, Farid Mussa, Aziz Andabwile, Khalid Aucho and Jonathan Ikangalombo – who may be sent out on loan.
These changes reflect Young Africans’ broader strategy to strengthen the squad for both domestic competitions and continental engagements. With expectations high, fans are eagerly awaiting the club’s official transfer list to see who will be donning the green and yellow next season.
Veteran midfielder Jonas Mkude, who joined Young Africans two seasons ago after a long stint with rivals Simba SC, is among those with an unclear future. Mkude's contract has ended, and sources indicate he is in advanced talks with Singida Black Stars.
The potential move could be influenced by Singida Black Stars head coach Miguel Gamondi, who worked closely with Mkude during his time at Young Africans.
Under Gamondi’s guidance, Mkude enjoyed consistent playing time - something that changed under coaches Sead Ramovic and Miloud Hamdi, where his role became more limited.
Given Mkude’s experience and tactical intelligence, a move to Singida Black Stars - who will represent Tanzania in the CAF Confederation Cup next season -could provide much-needed leadership and stability in midfield.
A reunion with Gamondi might also help rejuvenate Mkude’s career.
Official announcements will be released in phases, gradually revealing the full scope of the club’s roadmap for the 2025/26 season. The upcoming weeks are expected to bring a flurry of activity, with farewells, new signings, and strategic reinforcements shaping the next chapter in Young Africans’ illustrious history.
