A DIVERSE group of stakeholders has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Dodoma Marathon, emphasizing the event's broader mission of promoting community responsibility, motivation, and joy for all participants.
This year’s marathon aims to raise funds and awareness for several initiatives: Fighting cervical cancer; supporting midwifery programs to reach 200 additional midwives and launching a pioneering training program for 100 nurses specializing in the care of children with autism across the country.
Over the weekend in Dar es Salaam, representatives from prominent organizations met with Rayson Foya, chief financial officer of NBC Bank, the event’s main sponsor. The purpose of Foya’s visit was to present specially designed jerseys and kits to marathon sponsors as a token of appreciation and unity ahead of the race scheduled for July 27 in Dodoma.
Foya was accompanied by other key members of the organizing committee, including Godwin Semunyu, head of communications and public relations, and Tatiana Masimba, chairperson of the Dodoma Marathon Organizing Committee.
The team’s mission extended beyond kit distribution - it served as a reaffirmation of the bank’s commitment to engaging its partners and acknowledging their pivotal role in the event’s success.
During their visit to Sanlam Insurance, the delegation presented kits to managing director Julius Magabe and other senior officials. They later proceeded to GSM Group’s headquarters, where they were welcomed by managing director Gharib Said Mohamed.
The team also made stops at Jubilee Allianz Tanzania, where they met with managing director Jaideep Goel, and Vodacom Tanzania, holding discussions with senior leaders including business director Nguvu Kamando.
“The Dodoma Marathon is more than just a sporting event; it is a beacon of hope for Tanzanians,” Foya stated. “The involvement of our stakeholders - those we’ve visited and those we still plan to visit - is instrumental in pushing this impactful initiative forward.”
Foya extended his appreciation to the sponsors for their unwavering support, stressing the importance of multi-sector collaboration in tackling critical social challenges - especially in health.
The sponsors, in turn, commended the high quality and creative design of the event kits. They also praised NBC for the marathon’s exemplary organization, which continues to attract thousands of participants from within Tanzania and abroad.
With strong stakeholder engagement and a clear social mission, the Dodoma Marathon stands as a testament to how sports can unite institutions and individuals in advancing public health and community development.
