INDUSTRY and Trade Minister Dr Selemani Jafo has urged residents of Msanga Ward, Kisarawe District in Coast Region to safeguard water infrastructure to ensure lasting benefits for the community and nation as a whole.
Speaking in Mianzi village during the inauguration of water well, funded by the Lalji Foundation, Dr Jafo commended the foundation for its commitment to providing clean and safe water to over 1,000 residents.
Jafo who is also Kisarawe MP encouraged the community to maintain the project for future generation, noting that the initiative aligns with President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s call for development stakeholders to collaborate with the government to deliver essential services.
He also called on other development partners to continue supporting Kisarawe District, highlighting the need for expanded access to social services.
Imtiaz Lalji, Lalji Foundation chairman reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to aiding communities in need, stressing the importance of proper project maintenance.
One of Msanga residents, Latifa Kondo welcomed the initiative, saying it will reduce the time and effort spent fetching water, allowing residents to focus on economic and social activities.
Msanga Ward Councillor Zuberi Kizwezwe added that the water well is a major relief, sparing residents from long, often unsafe distances to fetch water.
