High Court to rule on Lissu’s Petition today
THE High Court Sub-Registry in Dar es Salaam is set to deliver its ruling today, Friday, July 11, 2025, on an application filed by the Chairman of the opposition party CHADEMA, Tundu Lissu.
The decision is expected to be issued by Judge Elizabeth Mkwizu following the hearing of arguments from both parties involved in the matter.
Lissu filed the application challenging the decision made by the Kisutu Resident Magistrate’s Court on June 2, 2025, to adjourn the hearing of his criminal case involving the alleged publication of false information online.
In his application, Lissu is requesting the High Court to summon the case file for review and verification, particularly regarding the legality and propriety of the proceedings that took place on the specified date.
The respondents in the application have raised a preliminary objection, urging the court to dismiss the application and citing three reasons in support of their stance.
