CCM presidential candidate Samia Suluhu Hassan last evening touched down in Zanzibar to a thunderous reception as her election campaigns gain momentum ahead of the October 29 General Election.
Samia arrived at Abeid Amani Karume International Airport in Unguja where hundreds of jubilant supporters gathered, waving CCM flags and singing songs of solidarity. The atmosphere was electric as residents celebrated her arrival with chants, cheers, and traditional dances, demonstrating overwhelming enthusiasm for her leadership and campaign message.
Her arrival in Zanzibar marks continued phase of the campaign trail after traversing several regions on the mainland, where she unveiled key pledges aimed at transforming the economy and uplifting livelihoods.
Over the past two weeks, Samia has covered Morogoro, Dodoma, Songwe, Mbeya, Njombe, Singida, Tabora and Kigoma regions, where she addressed massive rallies attended by thousands of wananchi. During the campaign, she underscored her commitment to scaling up access to social services, particularly health and education, while also pledging heavy investment in agriculture to ensure reliable markets for various crops .
In Tabora, she announced a major infrastructure push, including the construction of an 82-kilometre ring road to ease transport and open up new economic opportunities. She also promised the expansion of early childhood education facilities and delivery of subsidised inputs to support farmers.
Moving westward, in Kigoma, Samia pledged to harness the region’s vast natural resources, including the Malagarasi River, to produce over 49.5 megawatts of electricity to boost power supply. She also promised improved access to fertilisers and farming inputs, as well as investment in the fishing sector to benefit local communities.
Now in Zanzibar, Samia is expected to hold a series of campaign rallies across Unguja and Pemba, where she will engage wananchi directly and highlight CCM’s achievements and future priorities.
