CCM presidential candidate Samia Suluhu Hassan pledged to steer Tanzania’s economy to 7 percent growth while transforming Zanzibar into a hub of blue economy advancement, with investments in deep-sea fishing, maritime transport, oil and gas, and coastal tourism.

Addressing a campaign rally in Nungwi, Unguja North today, Samia said unlocking the blue economy remained her top priority as it holds the key to job creation, revenue growth, and long-term sustainable development.

“Our goal is to fully unlock the blue economy, from deep sea fishing to modern maritime services and port development, so that the Indian Ocean becomes a true source of prosperity for Zanzibaris,” she said.

She added that the CCM 2025–2030 manifesto outlines bold strategies for Zanzibar, including affordable loans for youth and women, cooperative training, improved business infrastructure, quality housing, and strengthening the tourism sector.

On Union matters, Samia reaffirmed her commitment to safeguard Tanzania’s historic Union, describing it as the foundation of peace, stability, and international respect. She also assured voters that the October 29 general election would be peaceful and urged citizens to turn out in large numbers.
