SALUM Jumbe put in a scintillating all-round showing as Flashnet Aces opened their title pursuit in the 2025 Petrofuel TCA Caravans T20 Cup in a stellar fashion, having hammered Park Mobile Lions by 91 Runs in Dar es Salaam last weekend.

The tournament's opening match, which took place at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club, had Flashnet Aces notching 177/6 in the scheduled 20 overs, having taken the crease first.

The Mohamed Salim-led Park Mobile Lions sought to frustrate Flashnet Aces' pursuit of an imposing total with an early dismissal of the opening batting duo of Asif Butt and Alishihab Bukhari.

The seasoned cricketers had a frustrating day at the crease because they made their way back whilst failing to contribute two-digit figures. Flashnet Aces were reeling at 17-2 after 2.3 overs following the return of the openers and were then pegged back in the following two overs, in which top-order batsman Aman Khan ended up with 14 runs.

The onus was, for that matter, on team skipper Abhishek Kumar and key players like Kashif Anwar and Prathamesh Chavan to steady the ship and propel the batting team to a convincing total.

The batting trio did not disappoint, given Kumar surpassed a half-century mark to nail 58 runs, Chavan notched 29 runs not out, whereas Anwar ended up with 22 runs. Kumar had Flashnet Aces confidently reaching a triple-digit figure upon his dismissal in the 16th over, as the club reached 135-5 when the no-nonsense batsman returned.

There was moreover a solid input by middle-order batsman Jumbe, who garnered 23 runs not out. Jumbe gallantly set up the seventh-wicket stand with Chavan, seeing to it that Flashnet Aces finish with a better triple-digit figure.

Anmol Yadav was the sole bowler who stood out in the Park Mobile Lions bowling unit, garnering 2-26 in his four overs and finishing with a 6.50 economy rate. Needing tricky 178 runs from 160 balls to come out victorious, Park Mobile Lions lacked the nerves to successfully chase the opponents' total, ending up with 86/9 in 20 overs.

Youthful Augustine Mwamele, skipper Salim, and Ejaz Aziz ended up as the cricketers with a meaningful contribution in the otherwise woeful innings. The batting team struggled to forge meaningful partnerships as Mwamele, slotted in at the low order, turned out to be the cricketer with the most runs- having posted 25 runs.

Salim (15 runs), opener Aziz (12 runs), and tail-ender Suraj Pala, who scored 10 runs not out, were also the side's batsmen with two digits. Flashnet Aces' medium pacer Jumbe tormented Park Mobile Lions' batting unit to end up with 4-20 in four overs and thwart the outfit's chase.

Chavan piled misery on Park Mobile Lions with his 2-7 in his four overs. Jumbe was adjudged the RAS Logistics Player of the Match for his solid all-around display.

The in-form cricketer grabbed an unbeaten 23 runs and four wickets to substantiate his true all-round showing. The Pepsi Power Hitter of the Match honour, again, was won by Jumbe for the cricketer's fearless big hits which wowed spectators.

Prathamesh Chavan lifted the Colorflex Dot Wizard prize for keeping the pressure on with crucial dot deliveries.
