RAAH Upanga Club's cricketers continued their impressive run in the 2025 Petrofuel TCA Caravans Cup with a dominant four-wicket win over Jiuzhou Patel Samaj in the final fixture of the showdown's second week at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club on Sunday.
The match had the Asuri Rajendra-led Raah Upanga Cricket Club wrapping up a clinical performance in what turned out to be a low-scoring affair.
Jiuzhou Patel Samaj, who won the toss and opted to bat first, struggled from the outset and were dismissed for a paltry 54 in 18.5 overs.
The batting lineup failed to find momentum against a disciplined Raah Upanga Cricket Club bowling attack.
Athumani Kakonzi ended up as the Jiuzhou Patel Samaj cricketer with a noticeable contribution at the crease, scoring 15 runs.
Mukul Pathak, who ended up with 11 runs not out, and Abubakar Juma, who posted 10 runs, were the club's other batsmen with two-digit contributions.
Leading the Raah Upanga Cricket Club charge were Ajay Yadav and Kayyum Mohammed, who took three wickets apiece, dismantling the Jiuzhou Patel Samaj top and middle order with accuracy and control.
Chasing a modest target, Raah Upanga Cricket Club experienced a few early hiccups but eventually reached 58 runs for six wickets in 12.3 overs.
The unbeaten 31-run partnership between Ramesh Alluri and Baraka Freddy ultimately sealed the match comfortably for Raah Upanga Cricket Club.
Alluri’s composure under pressure and his earlier contribution with the ball earned him the Ras Logistics Player of the Match prize.
Yadav added another accolade to his tournament tally, claiming the Colourflex Dot Wizard award for bowling 19 dot balls, tying down the opposition with relentless precision.
Raah Upanga Cricket Club's Sanjay Bom was awarded the Pepsi Power Hitter award for the mammoth six he struck during the chase, one of the few big hits in an otherwise modest scoring clash.
The results have seen the Raah Upanga Cricket Club performers strengthen their position on the points table, while Jiuzhou Patel Samaj will be looking to regroup ahead of their remaining fixtures.
The match also contributes to the tournament’s environmental pledge, with additional saplings to be planted under the Caravan's Green Earth Initiative in recognition of key performances.
The Petrofuel TCA Caravans Cup, organised by Caravans Cricket Club, continues to draw fans and community engagement.
The showdown highlights not only top-tier cricket but also strong values of sustainability and social impact.
It is supported by title sponsor Petrofuel (T) Limited and a strong consortium of partners.
