TANZANIAN football clubs collectively spent $1.8 million (Tsh4.5 billion) on 58 international transfers during the 2025 mid-year transfer window, according to the latest FIFA Global Transfer Report.
This marked a 3.2% decrease in spending compared to the previous year, with clubs only recouping $1.41 from outgoing player transfers. Top clubs, Simba, Azam, Young Africans, and Singida Black Stars, who finished in the top-four last season, were very active in the just ended transfer window bringing a host of internationals players from all parts of Africa as they aim to leave a mark in the CAF Champions League and Confederations Cup.
Simba were active in the market, securing several high-profile international signings. Their new additions include South African center-back Rushine De Reuck from Mamelodi Sundowns (pictured), midfielders Naby Camara (Al Waab SC) and Senegalese Alassane Maodo Kanté (CA Bizertin), and Kenyan winger Mohammed Omar Ali Bajaber (Kenya Police).
Other notable arrivals are attacking midfielder Morice Michael Abraham (Spartak Subotica) and striker Selemani Mwalimu, who joined on a one-year loan from Wydad Athletic.
The reigning Mainland Premier League champions, Young Africans, bolstered their squad with strategic international acquisitions. Their new signings include Chadian winger Ecua Elastin (Zoman FC), Congolese striker Andy Bobwa Boyeli (Sekhukhune United), and Lassine Kouma (Stade Malien).
They also secured the services of Guinean defensive midfielder Moussa Balla Conte on a three-year contract from CS Sfaxien. Azam, who finished third last season, made a series of new signings to strengthen their roster. The club brought in Himid Mao Mkami (Ghazl El Mahalla), Muhsin Makame (Zed FC), and Sadio Kanoute (JS Kabylie).
Other additions include Senegalese player Pape Doudou Diallo (Generation Foot), Congolese forward Jephte Kitambala (AS Maniema Union), Ivorian goalkeeper Issa Fofana, and Tunisian forward Taieb Ben Zitoun (Al-Hilal Omdurman), along with Tunisian winger Baraket Hmidi (CS Sfaxien).
While clubs were bringing in new talent, there were also significant international player departures from the Tanzanian league. Young Africans sold Stephane Azizi Ki to Moroccan club Wydad.
Simba saw two key players leave, with Cameroonian defender Che Malone sold to USMA Alger and striker Leonel Ateba transferred to an Iraqi club. Singida Black Stars also sold attacking midfielder Sabri Kondo to Swedish side BH Hacken.
