Future swimming stars emerge as Bluefins excel at FK Championship

BLUEFINS Swimming Club delivered an impressive performance at the recently concluded FK Blue Marlins Swim Club Championship, collecting a total of 39 medals at the event held at the FK Secondary School campus swimming pool.

The medal tally included nine gold, nine silver, and 21 bronze. The club also brought home three overall trophies, further cementing their strong showing at the gala.

Fifteen-year-old Hassan Harunani emerged as Bluefins' top scorer, earning 92 points after winning three gold, two silver, and one bronze medal. His efforts earned him the overall runner-up trophy in his age category.

He was followed by Kabeer Lakhani, who scored 80 points with two gold and three bronze medals, claiming the overall second runner-up trophy in the same category.

On the girls’ side, 10-year-old Sakina Abdulali stood out with 78 points, winning one gold, one silver, and five bronze medals. She also secured the overall second runner-up trophy in her age group.

Other Bluefins swimmers who contributed to the medal haul included:

  • Shuneal Bharwani: two gold, two silver, two bronze
  • Zahra Alibhai: one silver, three bronze
  • Mohammad Hussein Imran: one silver, one bronze
  • Adam Hassanali: one silver
  • Kanzi Mussa, Shabbir Hatim, Tasneem Huzeifa, Sahil Jaffer, Abbas Hemani, and Amatullah Mustansir: one bronze medal each

Club founder and head coach Rahim Alidina expressed pride in the team’s achievements, noting that many swimmers recorded personal best (PB) times.

“We are extremely pleased with the performances, especially from those participating in their first official gala. It shows that the swimmers are putting in the effort and our coaches are guiding them well,” Alidina said.

He also emphasized the role of parental involvement, saying:

“Children cannot thrive in this sport without strong parental support. It’s crucial for their development and long-term success.”

Bluefins Swimming Club is now setting its sights on the upcoming Tanzania National Junior Championships, scheduled for June.
