The 'Tanzania in Figures 2022' report from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) highlights a notable increase in beer production in Tanzania, rising from 380 million liters in 2021 to 456 million liters in 2022. This growth is attributed to improvements in raw material availability and industry practices.

At the Nane Nane Exhibition in Dodoma on August 8, 2024, Jacob Mwavika, Agricultural Officer at Tanzania Breweries Limited (TBL), discussed the company's efforts to sustain this growth. TBL is focused on enhancing support for farmers who supply essential raw materials such as barley, millet, and grapes. The company provides training, agricultural equipment, and vital inputs to these farmers.

Mwavika emphasized that TBL has established contracts with numerous farmers to boost productivity and ensure a steady supply of raw materials for beer production. Additionally, TBL plans to strengthen its collaboration with farmers and develop agricultural projects aimed at improving their livelihoods and increasing sector productivity.

"For a long time, we have been taking various measures to help small farmers in this country, including providing professional training, agricultural equipment, and important inputs to farmers.

"Also, we have managed to sign contracts with many farmers whose crops are used in the production of beer in our factory so that we can increase productivity and production," he said and added Mwavika.

The raw materials involved in the production of beer and other alcoholic beverages include Barley, millet, and grapes.

In another step, TBL has prepared plans to continue to be close and strengthen the relationship with farmers by increasing cooperation in the fields of agriculture. The company also plans to develop agricultural development projects that will continue to improve the living conditions of farmers and increase productivity in the agricultural sector.
