Mixx has unveiled a new strategic initiative aimed at deepening financial inclusion and accelerating the growth of the digital economy across the North Coast Zone.
Speaking at the launch in Tanga, Amani Sailoja, Acting Director of Yas – North Coast Zone, said the initiative builds on the company’s 15-year journey to ensure that every Tanzanian can access and benefit from digital financial services.
“The Mixx journey began in 2010 with a vision to make financial services accessible to all Tanzanians. Fifteen years later, more than 20 million people use Mixx every month to conduct transactions worth around 6trn/-,” Sailoja said.
He noted that Mixx has become a key driver of Tanzania’s digital economy, indirectly creating employment opportunities for thousands of youth through its vast agent network of over 200,000.
The platform has also enabled more than 500,000 businesses to receive secure digital payments.
In addition, Mixx supports more than 3,000 institutions and companies with bulk payments and collections, while providing loans worth over 1trn/- to six million customers. It has also nurtured a savings culture among Tanzanians, with deposits exceeding 600bn/-.
Highlighting Tanga’s importance, Sailoja said the region is a hub for agriculture, SMEs, and entrepreneurial activity that underpins local and national economic growth.
“The launch of the ‘Kila Hatua Mixx’ campaign promotes fast, safe, and digital financial services that empower everyone to participate fully in the economy,” he explained.
The campaign targets youth, women, and small entrepreneurs, with tailored services such as Bustisha, Nivushe Plus, Kibubu, and Lipa kwa Simu.
“Mixx remains a trusted financial partner for the people of Tanga, contributing directly to both regional and national growth. We thank all stakeholders in Tanga and Morogoro for their continued trust in Mixx. Your support is the foundation of the success of our ‘Kila Hatua Mixx’ campaign,” Sailoja said.
