PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has sworn in several newly appointed leaders, including Amos Makalla, who until recently served as CCM’s National Executive Committee Secretary for Ideology, Publicity, and Training, and has now been appointed Regional Commissioner for Arusha.

Makalla’s new role comes after his position within CCM was taken over by Kenani Kihongosi, who had been serving as Arusha Regional Commissioner since his swearing-in on June 25, 2025, a tenure that lasted just two months.

Kihongosi was appointed by the party’s National Executive Committee on August 23, 2025, to succeed Makalla as part of CCM’s broader strategy ahead of the 2025 general election campaigns.

Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony, President Samia thanked Makalla for his service in uniting the party during his tenure as CCM’s publicity chief, noting that his redeployment to government service reflected trust in his skills and experience.

“As for my brother Amos Makalla, first we thank you for the great work you have done in uniting the party as publicity secretary. We saw the need to bring you back into government so you can continue serving the people with your skills and experience at the regional level. You are no stranger, having already served as regional commissioner in Mbeya, Mwanza, Dar es Salaam, and now Arusha. I wish you every success,” said President Samia.
