Serengeti Breweries Limited (SBL), in collaboration with Africa Community Advancement Initiative (Africai), has officially commissioned the Kwadelo Water Project in Kondoa District, Dodoma Region, reaffirming its commitment to sustainable development and community wellbeing through increased access to clean and safe water.
The commissioning ceremony, graced by the Minister of Livestock and Fisheries and a member of parliament for Kondoa constituency, Dk. Ashatu Kijaji, as a guest of honor, marked the successful completion of a TZS 292 million investment that will benefit more than 14,750 residents of Kwadelo ward. The project includes the installation of a high-capacity submersible pump, construction of a pump house and a reinforced cement storage tank, a comprehensive pipe distribution network, and 11 community water points yielding an impressive 107 cubic meters of water per day.
“Water is life. This project reflects our deep-rooted belief that sustainable access to water is foundational for social and economic progress. At SBL, we are proud to support national development efforts by bridging water gaps in underserved communities,” said Obinna Anyalebechi, SBL Managing Director.
Since 2010, SBL has undertaken a total of 28 water projects across the country, providing free, safe water to over 2 million Tanzanians. The Kwadelo initiative is part of SBL’s long-standing “Water of Life” program and aligns with the company’s broader Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) goals and Tanzania’s Vision 2050.
In her keynote address, Ashatu Kijaji commended SBL for their unwavering support in complementing government efforts to provide water to all.
“This is the kind of collaboration we need where the private sector becomes an active driver of social change. Water is not just a necessity, it is dignity, health, and opportunity,” she stated.
The commissioning of the Kwadelo Water Project is not the end, it is the beginning of a brighter, healthier future for Kwadelo Ward and beyond. SBL reaffirms its pledge to continue investing in life-changing water projects across Tanzania, championing access, dignity, and development for all.
As SBL continues to scale its impact, the company calls upon development partners, government institutions, and the private sector to join hands in supporting community-driven solutions that build a better Tanzania.
