THE eagerly awaited 2025 Petrofuel TCA Caravans Cup gets underway at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club ground this afternoon.
An exciting line-up of fixtures is set to captivate cricket fans throughout the weekend, coming hot on the heels of a lively launch event at a hotel on Thursday evening.
Now firmly established as Tanzania’s largest privately held cricket tournament, the Caravans Cup is organised by Caravans Cricket Club in partnership with the Tanzania Cricket Association (TCA).
This year’s tournament, the organisers revealed, brings together eight elite franchise teams, blending local and international talent in a round-robin contest culminating in the grand finale on August 10.
Flashnet Aces and Park Mobile Lions will headline today’s opening match, setting the tone for what promises to be a highly competitive season.
Tomorrow, the organisers stated, will feature a thrilling triple-header- the first of which will witness Raah Upanga Club face Harab Motors Pak Stars in the morning, followed by a marquee fixture as the reigning champions and hosts Alliance Caravans lock horns with Park Mobile Lions.
The final clash of the weekend sees Aurobindo Aga Khan SC, last year’s runners-up, go up against a well-prepared Flashnet Aces in their second match.
Jiuzhou Patel Samaj and KX Intek Gymkhana, who secured their places through this month’s highly contested qualifiers, are the other participating clubs in the tournament.
The 2025 edition once again enjoys the steadfast support of Petrofuel (T) Limited, serving as title sponsor.
The tournament’s continued growth has attracted a robust network of partners, demonstrating the deepening relationship between sport and corporate Tanzania.
In addition to Petrofuel as the title sponsor, the tournament is backed by an impressive line-up of supporters. Platinum sponsors include Alliance Insurance, ASAS, Automark, Ras Logistics, and Pepsi.
Franchise Sponsors for the eight teams comprise Aurobindo, e-Parking, Flashnet, Harab Motors, KX Intek, Jiuzhou, and Raah Holdings.
There is, further, a strong network of supporting partners - including Colourflex, Newland, Ashton Media, Ikomg, Rickshaw Travels, Tata, Flying Elephant, Flightlink, Garnet Star, Neelkanth Group, Samaki Samaki, Sterling Holidays, Strydol, Suhara, G1 Security, and Holtan Builders- which continues to propel the success of the tournament.
The showdown's matches will, the organisers affirmed, be held exclusively at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club, a ground steeped in the nation’s cricketing history.
Entry is free of charge and open to all, making the tournament accessible to fans, families, and first-time spectators alike.
As cricket fever takes hold, all eyes are on the pitch. With strong squads, passionate support, and the promise of a high-stakes tournament, the 2025 Petrofuel TCA Caravans Cup is, the organisers noted, set to deliver an unforgettable season of cricket.
