TANZANIA international and Young Africans SC forward Clement Mzize has expressed openness to leaving the club this offseason - if the right offer arrives and the club grants him permission.
Mzize (pictured), 21, enjoyed a stellar 2024/25 campaign, scoring 14 goals and providing five assists. His impressive performances have reportedly drawn interest from North African heavyweights, including Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca and Algerian powerhouse JS Kabylie.
The young attacker was already on the radar of several North African clubs during the previous offseason, but Young Africans declined those offers, aiming for a more lucrative deal. With growing interest and improved form, the club now appears poised to secure a substantial transfer fee.
While Mzize had a limited impact in the CAF Champions League, where Young Africans exited at the group stage, he more than made up for it on the domestic front. His total of 19 goal involvements across competitions was instrumental in the club's success this season.
A former Young Player of the Year winner and a product of the club's youth system, Mzize has openly stated his ambitions for the future.
“I've had a great season - winning the Premier League and scoring in the derby,” Mzize said. “It's an immense feeling, and I’m grateful to be here. It’s true that I’ve received offers, but as a player, I can’t disclose them.”
“Of course, I want to explore new opportunities to grow my career. I’ve had wonderful moments at Young Africans, and as I’ve mentioned, I’m still under contract. So everything will be handled through my management, and we’ll see what happens next,” he added.
Young Africans will wrap up their season with a Federation Cup final against Singida Black Stars this weekend. A win would complete a domestic treble, having already secured the Premier League and the Community Shield.
Meanwhile, JS Kabylie is said to have begun formal negotiations with both Mzize and Young Africans. While financial terms remain undisclosed, the offer demonstrates significant intent from the Algerian side.
Additionally, Egyptian giants Zamalek SC are reportedly in advanced talks with Young Africans over a potential $1 million transfer. The Cairo-based club has also proposed a 15% resale clause, although Young Africans are pushing for 25%.
However, the simultaneous interest and active negotiations from JS Kabylie could complicate Zamalek’s pursuit of the talented forward during this summer’s transfer window.
