In a move set to revolutionize Tanzania’s commercial infrastructure, Honora Tanzania Public Limited Company (Yas), Honora Tanzania Mobile Solutions Limited (Mixx by Yas), and the East Africa Commercial and Logistics Centre (EACLC) have signed a landmark agreement to develop the country’s first fully digital business hub in Ubungo, Dar es Salaam.

The new center will span 75,000 square meters across four floors, making it one of the largest commercial hubs in Tanzania. It will accommodate more than 2,000 business spaces and 1,000 parking bays, providing a one-stop destination for trade and logistics—including customs, banks, shipping companies, and other service providers.

Under this partnership, EACLC will oversee the construction and operational management of the center. Yas will provide high-speed mobile and fiber connectivity across the entire complex, while Mixx by Yas will deliver integrated mobile money and digital payment services.

Pierre Canton Bacara, CEO of Yas, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to powering the future of Tanzanian business: “Today’s signing reaffirms our commitment to connect people and businesses across this nation through world-class digital infrastructure. Yas is proud to bring the widest 4G coverage and the fastest 5G network in Tanzania to support this visionary development. Our investment of over TZS 1 billion will ensure robust mobile and fiber connectivity throughout the complex, enabling merchants, logistics firms, and entrepreneurs to operate seamlessly in real time. We are building a digital backbone that businesses and investors can rely on with full confidence.”

In addition to telecom infrastructure, the complex will feature a comprehensive financial technology ecosystem led by Mixx by Yas. The platform will enable tenants to conduct a wide range of digital transactions—from rent payments and payroll processing to customer invoicing and supplier disbursements.

Angelica Pesha, CEO of Mixx by Yas, highlighted the fintech benefits for EACLC tenants: “This partnership is about creating a future where doing business is simpler, faster, and cashless. Through services like Lipa Kwa Simu, mobile rent payments, salary disbursement, and real-time invoicing, we’re bringing secure, instant, and transparent transactions to every corner of EACLC. Most importantly, we will support all tenants and staff with onboarding, training, and customer care, because digital tools are only powerful when people know how to use them confidently.”

Mixx will also offer cash-in and cash-out services through a network of agents (wakalas), and a full-service Yas store will be located within the complex. All services will comply fully with national regulations, data protection, and anti-money laundering standards.

Cathy Wang, Managing Director of EACLC, shared her confidence in the partnership: “We’re not just building a business center, we’re building a smart business community. Working with Yas and Mixx by Yas ensures we have the tools and expertise to make this a hub of digital commerce not just for Tanzania, but for the region.”

The phased rollout will begin with the first and second floors of the complex in July 2025, with full digital coverage across all floors expected by early 2026.

This groundbreaking initiative demonstrates how telecom, technology, and finance can converge to unlock economic growth and position Tanzania as a digital leader in the region.
