KISARAWE District residents and nearby areas are set to benefit from free medical services provided by specialist doctors at the district hospital.

The doctors, who have been working at the hospital, will conduct a three-day medical camp from September 15 to 17, offering specialized services free of charge.

Speaking from his office yesterday, the hospital’s gynecologist, Dr. Hamza Mzige, said that since the hospital was established, there had been no specialist services until 2023, when the government deployed the doctors.

He explained that, until now, they had never organized a medical camp but instead provided specialist services on specific days of the week, depending on patient needs.

“Since this hospital was opened, there were no specialist services. We were trained by the government, and now we are back to serve the people. We have pediatricians, radiologists, and ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialists,” he said.

Dr. Mzige added that they decided to hold this medical camp to raise awareness among residents who may not know of the availability of such services at the district hospital, so they can seek treatment locally instead of traveling to Amana or Muhimbili hospitals.

“We hold clinics every Wednesday and Thursday for women of reproductive age facing fertility issues, fibroids, miscarriages, and other conditions that can be treated at the district hospital. Residents should come and get solutions here,” he explained.

He further noted that apart from the weekly specialist services, the doctors have also been organizing outreach medical camps in remote parts of the district to reach patients directly.

Meanwhile, ENT specialist Dr. Andelile Mwaipape urged residents to turn up in large numbers to receive specialist care, stressing that early diagnosis leads to better treatment.

Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Elibarik Munuo said they have been treating many patients, including those with fractures and bone infections, some of whom have undergone successful surgeries and recovered.

General surgeon Dr. Charles Sward Luboha stated that they are fully prepared to run the medical camp to assist residents, aligning with the President’s vision of bringing specialized health services closer to the people.
