Samia promises major economic, social service expansion in Uvinza, Kasulu

CCM presidential candidate Samia Suluhu Hassan has promised a new wave of social service expansion in Kigoma Region, pledging improved health services, better education facilities, and expanded access to water and electricity if re-elected in the October polls.

Addressing residents during her campaign trail today, Samia said her government will continue providing subsidised farming inputs, including fertiliser, to farmers and pastoralists, while also giving special attention to empowering women through improved business infrastructure.
“Because women are the backbone of production and trade, my government will build new business shades to enable them to conduct their activities smoothly and in a dignified environment,” she said.
She highlighted key progress already made in Uvinza, where households connected to services have increased from 2,072 to 9,613 this year. She urged residents to prepare for the economic opportunities expected with the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), which will pass through the district.
On health services, Samia promised three new health centres, including one at Kazuramimba, and several dispensaries across the district. “Nguruka Health Centre will also be upgraded into a full hospital to serve the growing population,” she added.
Education has also seen heavy investment, with 13bn/- spent on improving primary schools, 19bn/- channelled into secondary education, and 2bn/- completing the VETA college in Uvinza. A new teachers’ centre is also on the pipeline to boost capacity building for educators.
In Kasulu District, the candidate promised to implement the Malagarasi River power project and ensure more villages are connected to the national grid. She said subsidies have already reached over 90,000 farmers in Kasulu urban and rural areas, significantly improving productivity.
The government has also embarked on the “28 Cities Water Project,” alongside new boreholes, which is expected to permanently solve water shortages in Kasulu.
Samia assured Kigoma residents that her administration will not leave anyone behind. “Our goal is for every Tanzanian to access quality social services, regardless of where they live. We will complete ongoing projects and initiate new ones to ensure progress reaches all,” she said.
Prof Joyce Ndalichako, CCM’s parliamentary candidate for Kasulu Urban, praised the government for improving water availability from 52 per cent in 2020 to 76 per cent currently. She said 246 new classrooms, 18 teachers’ houses, and three ambulances have transformed education and health in the constituency.
“The congestion in schools has reduced significantly, while our health facilities are now better staffed and equipped. This has changed lives and given hope to our communities,” Ndalichako noted.
Meanwhile, CCM’s West Zone campaign coordinator and former Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda urged Tanzanians to safeguard peace and unity by rejecting divisive rhetoric.
“Peace is the foundation of our prosperity. Do not be swayed by a few individuals who want to destroy the country’s harmony,” he told residents.
