DEPUTY Prime Minister and Energy minister, Dr Doto Biteko, has tasked heads of public corporations and governing boards to ensure effective implementation of resolutions made during their latest and earlier forums as they are critical to improving the lives of Tanzanians.

Closing the CEOs Forum here yesterday, he referred to the 86trn/- total government investments in hundreds of corporate entities and companies, which must translate into tangible benefits for the public.

“Tanzanians depend on you to transform their lives,” he stressed, demanding that the corporate heads recognise that they have a debt to improve the country’s conditions and livelihoods.

Highlighting the positive outcomes already achieved since the 2024 forum, he pointed at improvements in revenue contributions to the Treasury, as in the case of the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation doubling its contribution from 5.5bn/- during fiscal 2023/24 to 11.1bn/- in 2024/25.

Similarly, the National Housing Corporation saw a 363 percent increase, raising its contribution from 1.2bn/- to 5.5bn/- within the same period, he said, conveying a message from President Samia Suluhu Hassan demanding that corporate entities strive for even greater economic impact.

Despite the gains, they need to enhance corporate contributions to the pace of growth, work for self-sufficiency and set exemplary standards for private sector entities, the message intoned, pointing at the need to close loopholes that result in revenue leakages.

This remark reinforced a directive earlier issued by Vice President Dr Philip Mpango at the opening session, with the DPM praising Treasury Registrar Nehemia Mchechu for visionary leadership in coordinating the forum.

It gathered over 300 corporate entities and 650 participants to deliberate on advancing Tanzania’s economy, where the deputy premier used the occasion to remind those attending to treat the upcoming polls as a national priority.

He urged leaders to motivate their staff to engage actively by attending rallies, listening to candidates and voting peacefully, as peace is fundamental for institutional progress.

Stanslaus Nyongo, the Planning and Investment deputy state minister, hailed the president’s leadership and government commitment to the strengthening of public enterprises.

The ministry expects to work diligently to implement forum resolutions, aligned with the national vision of achieving a $1.0trn economy by 2050, he stated

Salim Kali, acting regional commissioner, noted that all six districts in the region are now connected to electricity at the village level. Additional infrastructure improvements have significantly enhanced living standards for residents and tourists alike, he added.
